From surgery to the spinning studio: Nadia Casciaro's story of strength and determination.

Fitness had always been a natural part of Nadia's life. Starting at Atlantic Suites gym, then moving next to the Sunborn gym and finally at Reshape & Rumble, movement was second nature to her. Running, dancing, gym classes, and long walks with her dogs along the coast from Santa Margarita to Alcaidesa filled Nadia's days. Everyday was active from start to finish.

Diagnosis

That rhythm was suddenly interrupted on October 17, 2022, when she was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Despite the shock, hearing that the tumour was operable brought relief after days of uncertainty. What followed, however, was the start of a recovery journey that would test her strength in ways she had never imagined.

Recovery

After surgery, Nadia spent eight weeks in a wheelchair, unable to move her left leg. For someone who had always been so connected to her body through running and dance, it was a surreal and frustrating experience. Recovery began with demanding physiotherapy sessions each week, slowly rebuilding the connection between brain and body. On April 6, 2023, she returned to the gym for her first spinning class since the operation. It was far from the athlete she once was, she needed help clipping into the pedals, couldn’t stand on the bike, and had to ride at her own pace, but simply being back in the studio, supported by familiar faces, reignited something powerful. Each small improvement became a victory, reminding her that progress, no matter how slow, was still progress.

Success

Today, that determination has brought her full circle. Now a licensed spinning instructor, she has started giving RIDE classes at Reshape & Rumble - Gibraltar's First Boutique Fitness Studio. Nadia leads classes with the same encouragement and positivity that carried her through recovery. Teaching brings back the joy she once felt years earlier as a group instructor, but now with a deeper purpose.

Resilience

Her journey, from relearning how to walk to now leading a spin class, is a powerful reminder that resilience, patience, and perseverance can carry us further than we think. As she tells her members, every fitness journey is personal: it’s not about comparing yourself to others, but about showing up, pushing forward, and celebrating how far you’ve come.

We salute you Nadia, on your incredible achievement and determination to get back on the horse, live life to the fullest and never giving up! You are an inspiration to us all.
